I want to exterminate them. I have tried to get rid of them but they keep coming back. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

you kill the snakes- the population of mice and other undesirables will increase. leave em alone , and please people stop using moth balls they are deadly.

I have killed 8 garter snakes and 1 copperhead this year.

I'm like you no snakes for me! I had a dog once that actually searched my 1 1/2 acres for snakes. She found them and she killed them.
She died from cancer and I not only miss her I miss the job she performed. Now I have to carry a hoe around with me in case I see one.
With that I use the below product. Make sure that when you use it that there are no snakes that would be confined within the area. Once you sprinkle it the snake is trapped in the area.
Walmart...Lowes....Home Depot...or on line.

Go to any garden center. It is called "Snake-Away" it contains sulphur, which snakes cant stand. Put around the foundation of your house or the problem areas

my mom had this problem and she went and got a plastic garden owl and she also went and bought plastic snakes and they were very real looking and the other snakes went away and I cannot believe this worked but it did . good luck .

get a cat they love to play with snakes and the snakes hate them.the will keep other critters away too. good luck.....

cut ur grass short,no wood piles, nothing for them to hide under. my little dog chases them off. (Gardner snakes)

GO TO WAL-MARTS AND BUY YOU SOME MOTH BALLS.SPREAD THEM ALL AROUND YOUR HOUSE. BUT IF YOU HAVE PETS .YOU MIGHT WANT TO ASK THEM SOMETHING YOU CAN GET THAT WONT HARM YOUR ANIMALS. I HATE SNAKES.....................
