This is one thing that really does anger me. When the parent or caregiver lets their children go wild in the neighborhood, causing damage to other people's property, stress to others. It is just plain disrespectful and should not have to be tolerated
And, what about the welfare of that poor child, only 8 years old, obviously suffering some kind of emotional problems if he is not with his parents.
If the grandparents can't be reasoned with, someone needs to step in, if not for the sake of the neighborhood for the child's sake.

Unless the child theatens you personally, you are not likely going to be able to get a restraining order.
If you have documented evidence (police reports), first try contacting Child Protective Services in your area as the grandparents are obviously not properly supervising the child and the poor child (albeit a nuisance to you) is seeking attention and found the best way to get it is through negative attention. The child is still in his formative years and with the proper attention and discipline, could still end up being a valued member to society...left unchecked, another would be criminal and a burden on society.
Also, if you know where the child goes to school, contact the principal at that school also...while they may not tell you anything or say they can't help you, if the child has been in trouble at school also, they will be much more inclined to ask Child Protective Services to get involved, which reinforces your assertions, that the child needs an intervention.
In the meantime, file a suit in Small Claims Court against both the child and the grandparents for any damages to your property. Post "No Trespassing" signs and call the police each and every time the child violates them. You may want to consider installing a security camera also.

You can call the police each time you have noticed that the young man has damaged something. OR, he may be looking to get your attention SOME attention .. Try talking to him first. Ask him to help with a few of the repairs (tell him your "teaching " him something). Perhaps pay him to do small things around the yard like pick up sticks or bag leaves. You may turn a menace into a friend.

Take pics of any damage, keep accurate records, and hand it all over to the police. If he keeps coming around they'll take him to Juvenile Detention. The grandparents need to see that this kid will only get worse if they don't discipline him now.

Restraining order on an 8 year old? I don't know but I think you might have gotten the idea from the Simpsons episode "On a Clear Day, I Can't See My Sister" in which Lisa put a restraining order on Bart.

Oh yes, you definately can! Contact your local police station and let them know what is going on and that you would like a no contact order...this can be done relatively easily and they will also hold the grandparents responsible if he breaks the rules of the order. Good Luck!

Call the police and if he contiues on this path he could be thrown on probation even an 8 year old is not immune from the judicial system. Document damages, times, and interactions with the kid. Show it to the police.

Document the damage he does and then sue his grandparents. They'll take care of him then.
