Wasn't the special prosecutor supposed to figure out who leaked the information about Valerie Plame being a CIA agent? Mr. Libby didn't leak anything.

I think this is about the special prosecutor's ego. He couldn't do what he was hired to do. He couldn't find who leaked the info. So he went after the highest government official he could throw a charge at.

I hope that our President will have the courage to pardon him. He probably won't, at least not until he leaves office. Why not now, though? Anyone that will hate Bush for pardoning Libby probably already hates him, and his failure to pardon Libby won't endear him to anyone else either.

Your thoughts?

Bear in mind: I did not ask if Bush SHOULD pardon him or not. I asked if you think he WILL pardon him or not.

He wasn't convicted of leaking the info, he was convicted of lying about the leak. This is a different matter altogether and if lawmakers get pardoned for lying, then the whole system isn't worth anything. There already seems to be a lack of accountability when it comes to elected officials and if Bush has any morals and respect for the entire process, there is no way in heck, Libby should be pardoned. Would be a good lesson for all that testifies in the future. Perjury is perjury, no matter who you are. That should be the message.

Bush brand of justice. Heads would roll and those responsible for the outing of the CIA agent would be fired. So far Bush has done nothing!

So why was he convicted? For our system of justice to work, we must support it. When there are mistakes made, we have avenues to effect a correction, and those we must use. These days, there are more reversals of sentences taking place, thanks to technology. If there is new evidence, his case can be reopened. What would be Bush's basis if a pardon were granted?
