do you try to publish what you have (even though someone else already did it), keep working in the same field, or switch to something completely new?

Just modify and get a better end result. Change the objectives and the outcomes. Confront the scooper!!!!!

If you have all the data and notes and stuff you can try going in a different direction with it and publish that. Or even do a little more research and publish why that person is Wrong! Isn't it all in how you manipulate the data?

There's always the french foreign legion...or try selling frozen yogurt in Boise...in either case you'll soon be wishing you were back in your old life...of course you could just be happy for what you have and realize that everyone loses some time and it's part of life. But just imagine the stories you'd be able to tell about your frozen yogurt slinging days....

Stick with your scoop but make your work better. Make it complete and more detailed. Elaborate but not exaggerate.
