I have seen a commercial where the neighbors kids bring their tricycles over for a car wash in the homeowners dishwasher and charges money for it.
Im just curious, would this be hygenic and is it ok to wash other things like dishclothes, and where does it end? Toiletbowl holders?

Personally, I wouldn't put my toilet bowl cleaner in with my skillet and bowls but I would put baseball hats and the such in and they do just fine.

when you do the salmon make sure it is well wrapped in several layers of aluminum foil alternating the seam so you don't get water inside the packet.
other than the salmon, which we do often and it is quite yummy, i wouldn't be putting too much else in the dishwasher. you will be voiding any warranty and/or guaratee on the machine if you do.

Kids toys
Ornaments (but nothing valuable)
Vases
Dishcloths (every night after clearing kitchen)
Vertical blinds
Bathroom soap dishes
I know someone who recently moved and removed all the new house toilet seats and did them in hers - have to say they came out sparkling clean but I would draw the line at that!!
Whole salmon is great done in there.
Computer keyboards come out remarkably clean too.

i wouldn't put tricycles in my dish washer. i have put my kids ball caps ,lamp shades and my dish drainer in.they all came out like bran new.as far it being hygienic i don't see a problem with it. you are using very hot water and they say that will kill germs.but a tricycle? that is taking it a little to far.i cant believe they would charge kids for that.they must really need money to do that.maybe they should take the hour that it takes to wash the kids bike in the dish washer and go look for a real job.

I use mine to do the pet dishes and hard plastic toys... I wouldn't do dish cloths--toss those in the washing machine. My dentist puts her family's toothbrushes in when she does dishes.... basically anything hard plastic or glass can go in the dishwasher--but remember you gotta eat off the dishes that go in so nothing REALLY gross in the dishwasher!

Your dishwasher can clean/ sterilize just about anything that can fit in there. But keep this in mind, would you want to eat off the plates after you put _____ in it? Be reasonable about what is safe to put in there and you'll be fine. :)

If it's wrapped properly, you can cook a whole salmon on the top rack. I saw this on a cooking show years ago.
You can also sterilize a dish sponge.
