I have written my book in word form and need to change to book form so I can send for publishing. Can it be done and how? I am a first time book writer.

Correl Word Perfect will allow you to convert the file but you will have to go through it again to make sure that it changed everything correctly

When formatting your manuscript for submission to a literary agent or a publisher you must:

1. Cover page: Type name, address, and e-mail address at the upper-left-hand corner of the page. Type word count upper-right-hand corner of the page. Half-way down center and type the book title in all capital letters. Beneath the title center and type "by (your name)"

2. Use no fancy fonts. Use Times New Roman or Courier, size 12 font.

3. Double-space the entire manuscript.

4. Place a slug line in the header to read:
Your name/TITLE OF BOOK. Enter page number at the far right.

I recommend you find the book, "Formatting & Submitting Your Manuscript" by Cynthia Laufenberg. In this great reference manual you will learn how to construct a good query letter among many other things.

I will be kind to Word even though I hate it. Word has made a disaster out of too many papers I've had to fix for people. And it was the program, not the user. Word has "issues" when you change the formatting and will leave orphan code.

Use WordPerfect to remove bloat & orphan formatting codes. If you've made the mistake many people do of hitting the Enter Key twice to double space, WordPerfect does a Find & Replace Code [HRt] (hard return). WordPerfect has the greatest thing (and has since the blue & white days), a Reveal Codes Screen! (I was actually told by a MS employee that they won't include a true reveal codes screen because their users aren't capable of using it!)

you don't have to do convert it into something. most of the publishing companies have their own format on the manuscripts that will be submitted to them. before you pass your manuscripts, contact the publishing company and inquire about their own policy of formatting manuscripts.

good luck on your book!
