I think its daring, fresh and powerful, like a proper athlete! Its ahead of its time, but its in line with modern 80's trends. Have you seen it on a movie clip? it really comes to life!
At first i was really disappointed but its growing on me. Everyone says they could do better. they couldn't! If they could make 400k out of art and design, belive me, they would. Its a work of art, well worth the money they paid for it.

Michael Wolff and Wally Olins apparently did, especially after receiving around $800,000 to design it.
Just because some people couldn't do a better design doesn't make the logo any less of a monstrosity!

Yep, I guess you are alone in this!
On Monday I was teaching a class in basic, absolute beginners level IT. I set them the task of making a logo for the Olympics using only the drawing tools and basic features of Microsoft word, which is all they currently know how to use.
Every one of them came up with a design 100 times better than that bucket of loose stool water!

ok, im assuming you just got out of a psychiatric ward so i will look past the fact u think somebody should be paid for designing such a load of cow dung! but i cannot look past the elderly person comment. the generation you are referring to are the generation which fought and died so that we weren't all wearing swastikas and living in a dictatorship. fair enough u want your opinion heard but u don't have to be so bloody disrespectful. don't the elderly deserve as much if not more right to be included in this representation of our country. if it weren't for them our Olympics would be held in Berlin not London. get some respect for crying out loud.

I have had sleepless nights thinking of it.
I feel sorry for the epyleptics that can't enjoy watching the TV advertisments to the run up to the games.
I'm gonna get a T shirt on Saturday

You must be blind.
Its the worst logo in the world. It doesn't jump at you and shout London Olympics, it just makes you think you have stumbled across some really bad 80's graffiti.

It is quite OK as an abstract art form so it is fitting really. But then there are those with no taste who think it should have been an elephant or dolphin or such stuff,

I think that no thought has gone into it, even though it cost hundreds of thousnds of pounds.
I think it would have been better for them if it was a more marketable logo that could generate the mone that they want it to

I like it. That's a good question. But didn't the "modern 80's" end, nearly two decades ago?

Yeah. It sucks. It already looks like it belongs to 1991, it'll look even more outdated by 2012.
