LOL Moon, with e-mail, folks no longer do the "letter writing thing' anymore. An e-mail is delivered instantly whereas a handwritten letter can take as long as a week to get to it's destination. NOW the U.S. Mail only serves one purpose, to deliver bills and advertising junk mail. The Postal Service has priced itself completely OUT of the message department by increasing the cost of postage every year while still giving huge breaks and subsidies to the JUNK mail users. Add to that the investment in time, energy and writing supplies and it's just easier and more effecient to use e-mail rather than snail mail, except for those PERSONAL touches that a card or a personal, handwritten letter seems to be able to serve on an emotional level. Actually I have just started agian recently as my nan has gone into a home and I thought it would be nice to get little cards and letters.
My mum died recently and going through her things we found all the love letters that my father had written her over the years. It made me really sad to think that my son is not going to have much written eviedence or history of me and his dads life together...all these things are slowly dying out and I think its a shame.

Ages ago. Shame isn't it, but with e-mail, texting, and free long distance, I am afraid that writing is becoming obsolete. Too bad, too, as a hand-written letter was always so personal.

Last week to my pen pal.
We did start e-mailing each other for a while but then decided that letter writing is so much better.
I'd hate to think that letter writing would die out in the world of emails.

It's been a few months now, but I send out at least 3-4 a month. My family lives far away and although e-mail is nice, nothing says you're important like a handwritten note. I also send little notes to friends to let them know I'm thinking of them.

About two years ago to my then girlfriend I was having a long distance relationship with. The extra effort of handwriting it seemed worth it at the time.
