You want to learn and I applaud that. Tailor your learning to what you specifically want to know and start with the Internet.
Go to the Internet and type in "www.RAM" There are many sites that will come up. With the wealth of information there you will be able to answer your own questions. What kind of system you have, do you need more RAM, what you want to do that makes you pose this query, etc.

I also learned a lot from Chicago Consumers Checkbook the Spring/Summer Issue. They also have a website which is
"www.checkbook.org" There are 2 articles abt computers.

Random Access Memory (RAM) is something that allows programs to be opened simultaneously. As it's name implies, programs are accessed randomly. RAM operates at high speeds to open multipe windows at once. If the RAM exceeds it's limits (meaning there are too many programs operating) the computer system will slow down and performance will be degraded.
