Usually, garage sales are done for a few reasons... to get rid of stuff you don't want anymore - but someone else may be able to use... also, its better in someone else's home being used than in a landfill... but you are not supposed to get rich off of garage sale profits... I usually price things very cheaply - $.50 or $1 for used clothes... broken toys are really not worth anything to anybody - your best bet there is to try and give it away to someone that may be able to use it on www.freecycle.org.

People who shop at garage sales look for bargains.

You will be lucky if you can get more than .10 on the dollar for most items.

Have a lot of items for .10 or .25.

You can price things that are in really good shape for about .25 to the dollar & be prepared to come down.

If you have things like collectables or antiques price them at what you feel is fair (Check E-Bay for prices) I would say that most times you would be better off selling them on E-bay or to a dealer.

You'll make more money if you take the clothes to a consignment shop. Throw anything thats broken in the trash. One man's junk may be another man's treasure, but sometimes it's just plain junk. You can put anything in a garage sale that you have grown tired of or want to replace. Use an extension cord so that people can test electrical appliances. If it's junk to you and you don't use it anymore, slap a price tag on it of a buck or two, sometimes less or more, depending on what it is. It depends on how badly you want to get rid of it, I usually reduce items by 90 percent of what I paid for them for example a 20.00 coffee maker for 2.00.
