as an Englishman it has always amazed me how tough American men must have to be to play sports in the USA.American football is so tough for instance the players need shoulder pads, body padding and helmets too protect themselves from other players who wear the same..
In basketball the players are so tough they are not allowed to touch one another in case of massive injury.
In baseball, the catcher has to wear a big glove in case his little dannies gets hurt.
Amazing

Frankly, I find football and baseball to be a grand improvement over their British origins. Most of the world agrees, as evidenced by the number of viewers of the British Super Bowl.

But my recent review of Olympic medals shows you to be exactly correct...not.

American Football

Well Americans like to be so damn prideful. Now I have to admit their football includes much more full speed contact than rugby does so the pads seem to be more necessary. But as far as physically hard and not roughness, rugby takes it. Football plays are lucky to make it to 10 seconds while rugby takes much less brakes. Americans like sports with contact and very fast paced games. They cant appreciate the sports that take the most to compete in. Ofcourse I'm not talking about all of them just the ones who either no nothing about sports or think they do because they can name every player in the nfl.

Just love a bit of friendly banter between mates. All of those sports are weak compared to Aussie rules. If they survive to the end of their careers without serious injury they can then look forward to knee reconstructions by the time they are 45.
And they don't wear any padding. Americans are usually very impressed when they see it for the first time.
Have you seen those soccer players grovelling about on the ground when they get a little tap on the shins? You'd think they didn't wear pads.

Oh I really think you are being most unfair. American football is a real mans game and the added burden of having to play with a mattress tied back and front makes it very taxing. Rugby would be a much better game if it took some pointers from the American game and tried to be more "village people" for want of a better expression.

The yanks need armour plating even to play sports. If one of them got a whack in the head by a cricket ball they might just get some sense knocked into them.

That's why they are no good at football. Football is the beautiful game that requires skill, agility, speed and intelligence. You can't be skillful, agile and fast wearing a Sherman tank. It'll be another few thousand years of evolution before the yanks get out of the Vauxhall Conference.

Yea you brits and your professional kick ball teams.

You try and play baseball, except you use a 2" x 4" instead of a bat and you cannot afford to buy bases.

heck, you don't even have real horse racing there, your queen has to travel all the way to America to see a real horse race.

heck, brits invented darts, except America rules at it to, the brit team came in 29th out of 31 teams at the world championship. America won, of course.

You brits can't even come up with a decent olympic logo, your looks like something a 7 year old drew.

I'm too busy watching BBC America to watch American sports!

One question if you don't mind: Why is it everytime I see British Footballers pile up why is the guy on the bottom always getting up with a smile on his face while tugging his shorts up? Just wondering....

You forgot hockey. Get hit in the face just once with a puck and see what happens. My bet is you would not go back out on the ice, unless it is to clean the Zamboni machine.
