Fear of rejection.
Denial based on fear of rejection.

Because other people are in the big picture between the
couple in question. There could be fear of other people's opinions and possibly drama or scandal on both sides of
the couple's lives. It's not at all hard to admit something to yourself, although it is hard to admit more to the other
person (than you're willing to) sometimes. Plus, like I said, there are other peoples responses whether good or bad that you may have to face or deal with in some way. I guess that's why people tend to keep their feelings to themselves and hide the pain of love. Maybe you may have some inner feeling telling you that you're not sure the other person is ready to hear what you really want to tell them.

Well the first part is easy. Lack of self-confidence. People don't want to admit feelings or tell someone they like them for fear of rejection or not having that feeling returned. Sometimes people are not quite confident in the way they feel and don't want to say they feel one way when in their heart they don't feel that way 100%
As far as having trouble admitting it to themselves, who can truely answer that question or even know if it exists since one never TRUELY knows what is going on in the mind of another.

Because to let someone know how you really feel you need to let down your guard. Let someone get in close, close enough to really hurt you. No one likes being hurt, so we are afraid of opening up to people. Being afraid to admit it to yourself might speak of your own fear of there being a person with any sort of sway over you. It might stem from some sort of control issues or just wounds of old relationships still being sensitive.

Because love to some is scary. Perhaps it was there upbringing. This has nothing to do at all with the person they are in love with. It has to do with protection mechism's which were placed probally by the age of 7! Perhaps there parents were divorced or abusive towards eachother!

Best of LUCK!

sounds to me like the person is likely to have been hurt before in a previous relationship. I know from experiance and if it was bad, then it can make it very hard to share your feelings with anyone for a while. And its easy for them to let their brains confuse their feelings rather than letting their heart lead. And remember its easy to tell someone how you feel, but it takes a real person to be able to show you how they feel. So pay attention to his/her actions. Maybe its easier to show you how they feel rather than put it into words. It can be difficult to find the words to say to someone you are deeply in love with becuase you feel as though nothing you will say will be good enough. Its easy to tell someone you love them. but anyone can say those words.

Holding it in. And not say any thing. That's why the butterfly's can't come out. Until the other person who you feel for comes forward.Look this is the 21century Just ask. Cause if you don't it will stay in you. Find out first if he or she haves somebody already. Then move on.

The first thing would be that they are afraid to be rejected and then laughed at.
You know how difficult it is to tell somebody how you feel because you always have to think that you might sound stupid and the other person won't understand you.

Previous heartbreak and/or ridicule. Sometimes when you reveal your feelings for someone, they don't let you down easy. They snicker at you and humiliate you.

Sometimes it's hard to admit you have feelings for someone if the person isn't at all what you're normally attracted to or they're taken by someone else.
