Bill Clinton was known for creating bills that had a whole lot of spending scheduled for AFTER he left office.

That (1) stuck whoever followed him with spending and (2) allowed Clinton to deviously say, "Look at me. I have a surplus!"

Does anyone admire that approach of Clinton and the Dems?

Dems, don't bring Bush up here. We're talking about someone that you tell us should be able to stand on his own record. Will you defend him on his own merits? Or are you ashamed?

I'm am so glad you illustrated this point so eloquently.

He achieved his surplus by deferring a lot and ravaging even more.

Just as he found it convenient to hand off a hefty report on terrorist threats to Bush, while not seeing fit to act upon those same reports himself.

Slick Willy had nothing, but his own interest and ego 'stroking' in mind while in the White House. The only controversy he dared engage himself in was that which took place under his desk. So weak was his character that he was incapable of exhibiting the self-control needed to avoid shaming our country with the resultant scandals.

Why so many choose to consider his obvious flaws as an aside, is beyond me, just as the fact that so many are incapable of grasping his charades is, also, incomprehensible to me.

Why isn't this readily obvious to everyone? Could it be that slime begets slime?

It is exactly the reason that we, as a country must stand up for moral conscience when voting for our next president.

Thank you for saying what I have always said while adding more credibility to my statements.

The republican congress led by newt gingrich was responsible for the surplus, billy boy just is good at taking credit for things other people accomplish. If you remember he had a tendacy to go along with the republicans on most issues back then. You gotta love the dems and porky pig himself john murtha and how they loaded up on earmarks after pelosi said they were going to be so careful with our taxpayer money, pay down the deficit, and fix social security. I guess they are going to worry about the deficit and social security later just like they have been doing since the 70's..

Typical Republican- spend all your time trying to blame someone else for your screw ups rather than actuallu being a man and admitting you messed up by electing someone who wouldnt make a responsible dog catcher in the private sector.

Clinton didnt cut taxces then raise spending to the tune of NINE TRILLION dollars- your idiot Republican President did that. How long for the US to pay off THAT debt? Now THAT'S backloading.

and what do we have to SHOW for all that money being pissed away?
Borders STILL arent secure- Obviously not since we almost got blown up again, according to the morons on Fox News;
Seaport cargo still not being inspected- the Republican Congress defeated a Dem bill for $650 million to increase inspections at the seaports (the same seaports Reps wanted to SELL to the MIDDLE EAST- now THAT'S security)
Osama bin Laden still not in US custody. Nuff said the WHOLE reason we invaded 2 countries in the MIddle East is still at large. Were Bush a police commissioner, he would have given his resignation by now.
