I noticed that last night!!! I was so MAD at the fact that they let him go. He would have been a great PH. Also, the fact that he was with them forever. He was the last great TEAM player for them.

The curse of Bernie Williams didn't hit the Yankees after 2006, it happened after 2000. The Yankees haven't won a World Series since Bernie danced on the pitcher's mound at Shea Stadium, and have been getting progressively worse.
Yankees get plenty of breaks as it is having more than double the payroll of all but 2 major league teams. With their inept on-field leadership and front office, if the Yankees had to deal with a salary cap they'd never make the playoffs.

That's funny, I work with a guy who's a huge Bernie fan and he comes into my office after every loss and say the same thing.
It appears the time has come where the Yankees are now on the other side of those "good breaks" they used to get in the past. on the other hand, I've never seen a teams pitching staff become so decimated all at once, so early in the season.

I don't know anything about the NBA being in Europe but I am very familiar with the NHL doing their annual tours during the pre-season and it always produces additional fans for NHL teams. With MLB I sense it may be a mixed bag so to speak - the American past time meets the British past time of Soccer (football)? Initially I would expect the good British to show up in droves to see the "Yankees" as, well face it they have arguably one of the best names in sports - I don't think they can expect to gain more of an audience than say Manchester United. Fans may or may not break out in fights in the stands. Currently there are hockey clubs all over Great Britain - I think baseball may be a tough sell due to the cricket fans. I've seen some Cricket Qs on this site in Baseball and they aren't friendly toward baseball players or fans here. I think it's a good idea but I would hope that MLB chooses wisely. I am not bought on the idea that Great Britain will take to baseball as say Japan or other Asian and South American countries have. Italy won't take to it as well as say the Netherlands. In the end, I speculate that the best success will come from Netherlands, Belgium, and even the tinier nation of Luxembourg where General George "Blood and Gutts" Patton is buried.

Don't believe in curses. I do believe in facts and stats. Overall the Yankees have been a damned good team throughout baseball history. They have problems just like other teams and they include the following:
1. Chemistry
2. Injuries
3. Players not performing at normal level
4. Other teams just playing better
5. Management negligence
6. and on and etc
Bottom line, every player knows you cannot win all the time and certainly not the World Series! Give the Yanks a break and watch the 11 game lead the Red Sox have now dwindle and whittle away in the summer heat.

So how do you get from the Yankees having injuries and not playing well to being cursed by Bernie Williams?

Absolutley not. The Yankees have been cursed since we got GiambiAND Mussina. Notice that since he's been here they haven't won the chip. So I say not Bernie but Giambi and Moose.

Blame Bernie for not wanting to sign a minor league contract first, he's being stubborn, his own doing, not the yankees.

I don't think Bernie Williams somehow convinced the rest of the team to quit or throw or injure themselves, and as far as I know he has not sacrificed any chickens to hit the curve ball, its just bad conditioning.
If he signed he too would be injured.
Not much you can do if your not ready to play.
P.S. Arod hitting that bomb of paplebon is a break going there way.
