After killing millions and millions of people in a war the likes of which the world had never seen- and which bankrupted the combatant nations for years afterwards- countries didn't spend a lot on weapons. Working people looked on warmongering as a scam to get them killed while making millionaires rich.

Thankfully, this state of affairs did not last and today we dutifully accept destructive wars that make millionaires into billionaires as 'necessary'.

The 1920s saw several disarmament and weapons restriction conferences, and treaties on international law, treatment of prisoners and so on. The Washington Treaty limited the sizes of navies for instance, while many more countries signed up to the Geneva Convention, as well as other treaties limiting the use of poison gas, and the Geneva Protocol addition to the Hague Convention.

Militarily, there was heavy fighting in Russia as the west and dispossessed nobles and oppressed ethnic minorities fought the Bolscheviks. I think there was also fighting in Iraq and Nicaragua.

The only things that happened in the 1920's in regards to military affairs were:

1) the continued advancement of weapons that were developed during WWI(i.e., Tanks, airplanes, machine guns, etc.)

2) Due to the horrific slaughter of tens of millions of young men in WWI, many countries attempted to prevent the occurrence of another war. One way to do this was to restrict navies and the Washington Naval Conference of 1925 set the naval ratios at 5:3:1.75

"Affairs?" You have to be more specific - you see the answers you've gotten and that was my first impression. Try again. What Country? In relation to what? Most interesting? Germany and the U.S. Go from there.
