300 is loosely based on the Battle of Thermopylae, which took place in 480 B.C.

If you are talking about the movie "300", then it was about King Leonidas and his Spartans, and about 6500 other Greeks defending the narrow pass at Thermopylae.

This was definitely NOT during the Crusades.

The Battle of Thermopylae occurred in 480 BC.

Mohammed founded the Muslim religion during the 7th century AD.

The Crusades were the Christians attempt to recapture the Holy Lands(mid-east) from the muslims.

Nov 27, 1095 AD - Pope Urban II preaches the First Crusade at Clermont.

July 31, 1291 AD - Muslims take the last crusader outpost in the Holy Lands, Beirut, ending the crusades.

Lol, it wasn't during the crusades, the Crusades was fought thousands of years later by Christian Europe and Islamic Moors over the possesion of the Holy land of Jerusalem. No, it was in the future, After the martians invaded Earth and were killed by a virus. The great civilization that arose after that War of the Worlds was the Persian Empire who tried to subjugate the whole world but were thwarted by the Spartans : P If you're just gonna ask other people to do your homework for you, you risk getting erronous answers. You'd better just Google it. Or better yet, go to www.wikipedia.org and type Battle of Thermopylae in the search box.

the events of 300 are a stylized retelling of the battle of Thermopylae, which occurred during the second Greco-Persian war.

Though an important spiritual victory for Greece, in reality, the crucial battle of this war was the naval battle fought by Athens at the Battle of Salamis

The battle at the end of the movie 300, in which the entire Spartan and united Greek army meets the hordes of Xerxes was the battle of Plataea

By the way, Thermopylae happened nearly 2400 years before WW1

It was during the crusades actually,...

King Loenidas of Sparta, took 300 of his men joined up with several hundred arcadians, and a about a thousand or so trojan hermaphrodite forces...

using the terrain to there advantage, they were able to hold of a vastly supereior force of the persian army. For a few days they inflicted tremendous losses on the persian forces, who finally succeeded in overrunning the spartans with the assistance of some Nazi stormtroopers led by attilla the hun.

Its pretty interesting...

It was NOT the Crusades - it was in pre-Antiquity when that whole area of the world was in a continuous State of War between City States and Empires.

The original 300 were Greek warriors during antiquity (before Christ).

I think this took place during the first crusades. The Spartans of Greece were protecting themselves from invading Persia.

P.S., Thank you all for letting me know it was not during the Crusades, first or second.

I haven't seen it, but my son has. It is about the Spartans fighting the Persians in ancient Greece.
