Intel, IBM and AMD using different standards to mark their GHz's.

You cannot compare their numbers one to one.

There are utilities available on the internet which would tell you your systems performance with relative to a particular processor.

When they were using Motorola's PowerPC chips, Apple claimed that the CPU runs at a much faster rate due to the design of the CPU, but theres really no real comparison, and they have always run Mac at a much lower speed, until recently that they started to use Intel CPU,which has a real PC spec so you can compare them against another.

they are built differently...the numbers that intel uses for their chips is called the p-rating...different from AMD chips and old Mac chips.

new macs have intel chips.
