I don't own a car I just ride a cab going to my work and back to my house, it's comfortable for me. I just wonder why other people craving to have a car though they can ride a cab or something to get to the place they want. You would spend lots of gasoline rather than spending money for the transportation.

It depends on where you live and where you work. If you live in the country and your work is say, more than 20 miles away, then the cost of a cab in a month for work and errands will be more than car payments, gas, maintenance, and insurance. If you live in a city with very good public transportation and your job is there, then no car is necessary. It looks like your situation is close to that.

There are many reasons. Convenience. Freedom. Time to get from place to place. Status. Style. Comfort. Lack of options. Where I live, taxis are almost non-existant. Public transportation is available. But it is not convenient or fun to ride in an almost broken down bus.

I live in the Detroit area and the public transportation sucks so bad that you have to have a car. I wish it wasn't the case. I would rather not have the payments of one.
