I understand that we all have different tastes in music,as is our right,And I also understand that my tastes in music(Grindcore,Black Metal,Doom,Dark
Industrial-E.T.C.) gravitate to such an extreme that they would have to be considered acquired tastes by most people.Still, I find it hard to understand why many people enjoy listening to thoughtless crap simply because "You can dance to it".The lyrics are trite and banal, the vocal lines sound hokey, the themes almost always revolve around "Boy meets girl, boy inserts penis"and it's so repetitive that you need only buy one top 40 R&B album to have heard them all!Wouldn't you rather dance to something like BAD BRAINS(A legendary band that
combined Reggae with Metal and early punk)?I just don't get it.

I own you,you sound like a ******' idiot!Calling someone you don't know a skinhead, even in jest,on a message board is about the most retarded thing you can do-and here's two cents for your courage in doing it!

Oh,by the by,I just thought you might want to know that as elitist as I may have sounded,I never once condemned PEOPLE for what they listen to-for all of your genre research, you still seem to lack in reading comprehension skills for the very fact that I prefaced this question by stating that everyone had the right to enjoy whatever music they want.

So you know where you can stuff your speech fella.

It sells well, I dunno.
I think people make alot of bad music these days because of the technology there is to make music and songs so easily with it , unlike the old days where people actually worked hard and made the effort to write lyrics and construct thoughtful music out of anykind of sound of an instrument they heard.

Cuz sometimes you just don't wanna think, and you certainly don't have to do much thinking w/ pop corn music. The rest is a good beat, although that doesn't seem to be enough for you. But sometimes I just wanna hear a good beat and I don't even pay attention to the words or ever know what the words even were.

u don't have to bash people that like top 40, or hip hop, or whatever kind of music, now let talk about Black Metal:
Black metal is an extreme metal subgenre. It is typically characterized by the use of heavily-distorted guitars, harsh or growled vocals, fast-paced rhythms, so unless u get the song lirycs from someone u now that they are singing about...Black metal has been met with considerable hostility from mainstream culture, mainly because of the misanthropic and anti-Judeo-Christian attitude of bands contributing to the genre. Additionally, a few black metal bands have been known to have associations with church burnings, murder, and National Socialism. so you must be a skin head!!!...

grindcore are just song that last like 3 minutes at the most..u don't have to be a genius to write short songs, and a vocal style consisting of growls and higher-pitched vocals about political issues, gore and horror.

now let's see "doom"...Doom metal is heavier and slower than other metal genres. Lyrics play a very important role in this genre, and are traditionally rife with pessimism, evoking an atmosphere of darkness, despair and misery...okkkkkk then...someone please get the holy water.

of course is an acquired taste..not just anyone would enjoy that kind of music..specially sober and in a healty state of mind..just the way u hate the "mainstream" stuff...all u listen to is underground music and is called underground why?...because .0001% of the world population likes it..and ur one of them...there is nothing worng with the music u like..i enjoy leaning new stuff all the time..just stop the little "i hate mainstream everything, i'm just underground" speech that has been used before u we're born...it's old.

and by the way if u fussion reggae with punk and metal u get 2 Tone, a sub genre of ska..has been around since the 70's!!!

there are a number of super songs from that era (30's--50's) and that i many times carry out extremely a number of them, extraordinarily the "Tin Pan Alley" ones. through diminish high quality equipment, i don't care that plenty for the recordings from that factor, however the songs are super.

Not everyone wants to Analise things every second of the day, some people just want a valid excuse to move their body.

I don't get it either, these people have no soul I think, or they just don't actually listen to music and just want something fluffy in the background.

I dont care for it, it's over manufactured for people with little to no talent. if you want to hear intricate and beautiful music by talented people, listen to classical. that's where it is...
