All this written about the media covering Madeleine & ignoring other cases is hogwash. The only reason we are so taken up with Madeleine is 'cos of the media. The media does their job & we lap it up. So its great what Gerry & co. do.Its serves their purpose to keep Maddie in the news.

First, leaving their babies alone was inexcusable & wrong; legally & morally.
They are (worse for them, their Madeleine is paying for it) & they will be charged for neglect. Where i come from, there was a case on May 2 where a new born baby boywas abducted right from his mother's arms in the hospital bed, four hours after birth, by a woman posing & dressed as a nurse. Now, this wasn't a 5star resort. It was a hospital meant for the poor. The parents are people who live on the streets. They don't know from where their next meal will come from. A newspaper covered it & just like Madeleine's case it touched our hearts & minds & we prayed & worried over that little child & his parents. Thankfully, our good police force came thru' & traced that woman & returned the child to his parents after 5 harrowing days. (Its another sad story that the woman couldn't bear her ownchildren & was being harrassed by her mum-in-law for it & so sought her own sorry way out). Sorry to drift...but my point is that this case was given coverage despite the fact that these people were the poorest of the poor. So, don't flak the media attention the McCanns get just 'cos they're doctors & well off...They have something in common with a family living on the streets...a child abducted.

you're missing the point the same way all these people who vehemently 'support' the parents do.
They CHOSE to leave their children, not once but every night. They decided together that it was a good idea.
The case you highlight is entirely different. That lady trusted an alleged professional and handed over her baby in good faith. She did not just willy nilly thrust the child at a passing stranger and walk away to leave it to who knows what, she demonstrated trust.
When my son was born, a nurse came to take him away for a vitamin k injection. I did not question her, I trusted her. She brought him back. If I had a child now then yes I would not only make trebly sure she was a nurse but I would insist I went with them.
You cannot keep on making dubious comparisons between what they decided to do which resulted in a tragedy for Madeleine, and a simple act of trust.
I still maintain that had this been a less educated family from a run down area, had the mother popped over to the pub for a lager with friends and returned to find a child missing, she would have been villified mercilessly in the press, they would have dug up all the dirt they could and printed it. She would have been called every name under the sun. So please, let's stop pretending that being white, middle class, 'educated' professionals is not having some bearing on how this is being reported.

I don't "flak the media" just because the McCann's are well off. I don't flak the media at all. The people I do flak are the McCann's themselves. They screwed up, and they paid for it. There is a difference in your other story, in the fact that the "poor woman" did not intentionally leave her baby. She thought she was handing her child to someone in a position of responsibility. The McCann's, however, left their child of their own free will. This is the bug bear that I have. They are responsible for the loss of their child. The fact they are now swanning around Europe at the expense of the stupid people gullible enough to indulge them, just makes the matter worse in my eyes. As for meeting the Pope, what's that all about? He can't do anything. They are even to appear on Crimewatch tonight, but if you ask me, they should be the ones who are depicted as the criminals!

Children in India are abducted everyday and there parents can't get the police to do anything because they are poor. It is not fair where the child parents are from rich or poor family - child is still an child something need to be done.

I know why EVERYBODY is talking about Maddie 24/7. They got this nice couple, both doctors and they lose their kid. Now EVERYBODY think they're better than this doctor couple. Talking about how BAD & ignorant these parents are.

People love to see something bad happens to someone 'better' than they are.
