VI is available for many operating systems, including windows. I use it for all my text editing purposes. Note that there is also a GUI version (gvim) available.

Can be downloaded free of cost from vim.org

i thought linux was a branch of unix... so.. wouldn't it be both? i really have no clue, i'm just assuming..
