I think media is fueling ignorance. Rather than people forming their own opinions on publicly debated topics rationally by actually researching it and listening/reading the information for themselves, they are allowing media to show them out-of-context comments to be up for interpretation. Then all of the sudden there's this huge uproar of angry people who are only angry because of their laziness to get the whole story before forming their opinion. That leads to a lot of Foot-In-Mouth syndrome! We do have multiple voices, and thank God--because if the majority of the people leaving backwards uneducated comments about something they know nothing about were the only voices to represent the people--we'd be in a world of trouble!
*For example...if you may be referring to the Rosie/troops 'thing'---please!! If anyone had actually heard what the woman said they would know that she was not being a cold anti-American, she's speaking from concern and love of a country that she believes is in a pretty bad place right now.*

Multiple voices causes confusion? So is the answer to only have one voice be everyones voice, even if everyone doesn't agree with that voice? I don't think that it is fueling intolerance. I think people need to grow the heck up and realize that we all don't have the same views. It would go much further to RESPECT each other views than to argue over them.

I strongly believe that they are especially when it comes to certain subjects. Something like this happened a number of years ago in relation to my mom's home country of Panama. I have visited this country several times in the past and there weren't many problems and the secret was that when you saw certain situations going on you go elsewhere to get away from the situation.
