What two out of three so far have answered is right. Why do people like Sugarfrog feel compelled to answer questions here when they have no idea what they are talking about? He wanted an answer and you did nothing to help him. You even said you've never been on an audition yourself. Stay off of here! You're only wasting everyone's time! Anyway, they are right. Almost always the audition is set up by a SAG franchised theatrical agent. You can find lots of auditions for student films and amateur productions though.

The actor gets a call from his or her agent, that the Casting Director, for a particular movie, wants him or her to audition for the movie.

They goto a big movie studio or network...they have extra appts with their trainer, nutritionist, and acting coaches that week, they are probably in front of a camera (screen test) from the start in the case of a big motion picture. Would love to experience it for myself one day!
