I set up my wireless network and password and my labtop cannot see the wireless id. My friend's labtop cannot either, but the desktop I used to set it up works on LAN. Can someone help me out?

This answer may sound stupid but my uncle had the same problem. on ehis laptop it was as simple as pushing one of the F keys I think 8 and it actually enabled the wireless internet. without doing that it would never find a signal no matter where he went. on the second laptop it was in the settings under control panel for wireless connections. hope one of these helps.

You do have a wireless router, I assume.
Read your wireless router manual. You may have to enable WiFi.
Stuck, call the router tech support line.

make sure that your wireless device broadcasts its SSID
