I'm not generally "mistrustful" of people, I take most people at face value until they give me a reason not to.

I find that no matter what

Gets me hurt, but I can't change

First off it would be if they said they loved me the first time I met them..man or woman....that "Love ya" crap just doesn't wash with me like that..and if they would feign liking me that much, theywould take frtom me consistently...past experience says this.....I warn them..andexplain..it is NOT something to throw around...I read people very very well.
Don't try to impress me and I will be impressed.

I already am. Life has taught me to be this way. You can't trust anone with your back turned. For people that say they actually can, you are either delusional or very lucky to have someone in your life whom you can trust.
