it's not an urban legend, it's actually true. yes i did know. if someone comes up to you and robs you can do that and still get money out but the comes will/should be on their way.

Urban myth, i got an email just the other day. About if your being robbed at the ATM, put your pin in backwards. I asked at the back it's sooooooooooooooo not true. DOES not work.

If you screw it up three times the bank is notified and can't get your money out for 24 hours or you go to the bank and straiten it out.So you are screwed for 24 hours if it's Sunday or a holiday.
