It is one of many forms of entertainment and a sleight against it is hardly a sleight against sci-fi fans personally. Incredibly intelligent people both like and dislike it - it is a question of taste and has nothing to do with either a lack of imagination or otherwise.

And as for your earlier "small-minded a rsehole" comment - maybe learn to interact on a more polite level and get some perspective on when insults are called for - it is patently clear to most of the world that responding to a mild inoffensive joke about Star Wars and Star Trek in such a way is not such an occasion.

Want something different? Try these: The Sharing Knife, by Lois McMaster Bujold Dragon and Thief, by Timothy Zahn Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment, by James Patterson Dead Witch Walking, by Kim Harrison Daughter of the Empire, by Raymond Feist & Janny Wurts The Tar-Aiym Krang, by Alan Dean Foster I've read over 700 sf/f books. These have great characters, action, and a little romance, and most definitely are original and innovative and fresh, even the last two, written a while ago. They each also have the added advantage of being the first book in a series, so if you like what you've read, there's more. Enjoy!

Because we are geeks. But that's not a bad thing. Bill Gates is a geek, and he's the richest person on Earth.

A quote I ran across recently: "Be nice to the geeks at school, you'll end up working for one of them one day."

Revel in your geek-ness! Embrace it!

Don't bother what morons say, you need a brain to be a sci-fi fan. Who cares what the brainless think.
