Hi, I am a sophomore and I live in California
I want to major in economics or politics in college.
Any recommendation? I know that Harvard is famous for economics... Do you think UC Berkeley or Princeton is okay too? What about Stanford?
What other schools are famous for economics and politics?
Can u also give me some detailed explanation about those colleges?
Thanks a lot! =D

Hmmm....some good suggestions are UC Berkley, Princeton, Harvard, Stanford, Georgetown, Yale, and Duke.
Berkley: A great school with a good tradition in politics.
Princeton: A classic with one of the best economic programmes around.
Harvard: A great statistics department in a great city.
Stanford: The best economics department in the country.
Georgetown: In the center of it all! A prestigous school with a lovely political history in our nation's capitol.
Yale: One of the best Ivies, close to New York, and with great prestige.
Duke: An up and coming school with an economic program. Organizations founded include the American Beer Pong Association of America, and right now they have a great marketing department.

Check a list of the Nobel prizes in Economics over the last 30 years and see where those people teach, and this question will pretty much be answered. Especially since at UChicago the star professors actually teach and meet with undergraduates and at some of the other schools mentioned you could spend four years there and never even see the star professors.
Apparently some folks think that business and economics are closely related areas of study. They are not.
In one sense, almost all the schools people have mentioned would be terrific. But do you want the best or don't you? I think you need to check out UChicago.

Aside from the schools mentioned, The University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) has the top business school in the nation. In general, all the top schools will have great econ programs because that is a popular major. If you are interested, do not be afraid to go to their website and look up the major. Look at the professors in the department, and even email some people with questioned about how the program is like. With that said, keep in mind that people can change a lot in the course of two year (when your a senior) or I should say 4 years (when you are a junior in college and have to chose your major). Do not pigeon hold yourself to one course of study because you will limit yourself and you might end of regretting it down the road if you realize that this may not be the subject for you. I suggest choosing what you want from a college in terms of class size, student body, diversity, cost, location, prestige, and any other factors that are important to you. Once you have that in mind, then start looking at colleges that fit that description and start visiting, Don't feel like ivy league schools are the only ones applying to, because you never know whats out there.

i've got faith with Princeton you ought to be interior the close to-suitable SAT selection. additionally they like to make sure you in touch in alot of extracurriculars. UC Berkeley is dealing with a California budget disaster, they seem to be slightly stringent on exterior scholars from different states. you will possibly certainly must be wanted Stanford is impossible to get in. there replaced right into a valedictorian at my college with a exact to-suitable SAT and suitable APs yet she have been given rejected. they're extra attracted on your life tale than your checklist. additionally it would help once you're a math genius considering you're interested in economics (it incredibly is how Ben Bernacke began out)
