China or America?

Question

Would the world feel safer or more at risk if China were to take over the USA as the worlds No. 1 power? Given that right now China is far more favored across the globe than the USA and has strong relationships with other great powers such as the EU, Russia and Japan which the US constantly pisses off.

Let me just remind you of something!

ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY!.

Great Britain was the first true world power! it influenced and changed the whole world forever.. in fact there is not one place on this planet which has not benefited in some way from those Victorian days of empire!


Trouble is though all that power brings not only good things but also bad! war after war conflict upon conflict and finally the war to end all wars. brought to a close, and era of single power domination.

Since the end of the 2nd world war The USA has taken over being the most powerful nation, Who can argue that because of its power its has brought death and destruction to many parts of the world while trying to justify itself with self centred rhetoric!.

At the moment the Americans are all powerful! , they can do what they like when they like and no one can do a damn thing about it!. In my view The very best thing to happen would be for some other country to become powerful enough to check American domination and bring a balancing effect back to world politics.

Look up the word Communism.

Now, look up the word Capitalism.

Now, explain how capitalism and communism mix when they are polar opposites.

I teach in China and the very mention to my over 350 college students that China is communist brings laughter.

Since they are so smart, why are so many of you so dumb?

To answer the question, I am not sure if China would be better then the USA. One thing is certain, China does not have a history of imperialistic type behavior like the USA has. Nor do they bring war on others. If you mention Tibet, you are ignoring at one time it was part of China and even emperors wanted it. Does the invasion of Tibet make it right? Of course not! In todays world, China completed passenger rail service there last year and is encouraging the world to visit, what is China trying to hide now?

If you want to talk about other invasions, then lets talk of the reasons, such as North Korea and MacArthur. Or how about Vietnam and all the trouble they were causing on their southern border?

One thing is certain, with my current grading system, your one shot answers are on par with my few failing students.

Time to get out the text books and do some real research instead of getting your news from yell radio and all the talking heads telling you how to think. It is abundantly apparent most of you can't think for yourselves.

Very funny.
Can't happen. The great chinese firewall, keeps them all pent up. 90% are still in the feudal state of mind, hence the communist system ( read lenin or marx).
If it wasn't for taiwan and singapoor chinese through out the world, there would be no chinese.
I think you need to read more. The chinese system is still very centered an nothing happens without official approval. I think it would be great, china will try for the world, only to loose it's self. Like taoist art - irony.
Try getting through the chinese firewall. It goes both ways. You can't - except where the officials let you.

I just can't remember a time when China came to the aid of of any other country. Maybe someone else can think of one.

Neither - I would go for India.

1) India is a non-aggressive country. Since centuries of its civilization, it never invaded any other country by force. On the contrary, hordes of invaders such as Alexander, Jenghiz Khan, Mahmud of Ghazni, the Moguls and the British came to India with brutal aggression and actually ended up assimilating into our culture which is based on plurality, tolerance and universal respect for human rights. Our trade ties with Arab nations exceeds that of others and India is the only non-Western nation to support Israel despite having Arab allies.

A Muslim in India always feels welcome despite the fact that millions of Indians may have died due to Islamic invasions. But we basically believe in moving on - we don't believe in clinging to stereotypes. There was just ONE bomb blast in London and one 9/11 in America and that causes these Westerners to look upon ALL muslims with suspicion.

India is the only country in the world, where a stranger is not called "stranger" - we know how to assimilate others and believe in free and open exchange of ideas and values.

Clearly, a world led by India will be free from conflicts and strife.

Give it another 100 years (I won't be living then) and my words will become the truth. A world led by India will be a far better and safer place.

Did you know India had colonized East Asian countries for nearly 2000 years without sending even a single soldier? I am talking of Buddhism. We're capable of doing it again.

The Chinese are more respected in Europe, Russia and Japan like you said. It has been like this for a long time and it is getting worse.

China will not take over being the No. 1 power as they have no compassion not even to their own people..Notice how they suffer under the yolk of an oppressive government?

The Chinese are a slave country and even slaves will throw off their master's chains...someday!...Communist countries are failing...and there system of government is obsolete

I think the world will be in a way afraid of whichever country that is the world's no.1 power. by the time china overtakes usa in terms of power, it would be more or less like usa.
