– 2/7x > 8
– 2 > 56 x
or 56 x < – 2
or x < – 2 / 56
or x < – 1 / 28

1) Deal with the equation as if it was an euation with = sign in between instead of a >.
2) Cross multiply and get variable x on one side and anything without variable x on the other side.
3) U already have an answer but now u have to figure out the inequality sign.
So remember the rules:
i) Multiplying or dividing both sides by the positive value does not change the inequality.
ii) multiplying or dividing by the NEGATIVE number to both sides of an inequality reverses the sign of the inequality.
If u need more help visit the following website, it has some examples as well: http://www.wtamu.edu/academic/anns/mps/math/mathlab/beg_algebra/beg_alg_tut18_ineq.htm

If you're talking about (-2/7)x>8, then it's;
-2x > 56 (Multiply the 7 over)
x < -28 (Divide the -2, and change the sign since it's dividing a negative number)
OR
Do you mean -2/(7x)>8?
Then it's;
-2 > 56x (Multiply (7x) on both sides)
(-2/56) > x (Divide 56 over)
x < -1/28 (Simplify and change sides because it look nicer)

(-2/7).x >8
- 2x > 56
2x < 56 (this is part to watch---when you multiply an inequality by - 1 the inquality sign is reversed)
x < 28
To add to above note a few examples :-
4 < 7
- 4 > - 7
- 3 > - 8
3 < 8
Good luck with finals.

first of all multiply both sides by-1
this changes the inequality sign 2/7x<8
so1/7x<4 now suppose x is+
so multiping both sides by x which doesnot affect the inequality sign so 4x>1/7
sox>1/28
now suppose x is -
then multipling both sides affects the sign
so x<-1/28

See its very easy.
If -2/7 x > 8
=> -2 x > 56
=> - x > 28
Now let us multiply the - (minus) sign both sides, then the inequality sign gets changed.
Hence, if - x > 28
By multiplying - sign both sides we get,
x < - 28
which is the answer.

-2/7x>8
-7(-2/7x>8)
2x>-56
x>-23
so this means that x can be any number greater than -23
just treat that sign like it was an equal sign.

-2/7x > 8
x should be -val
-2 > 7x*8
-2 > 56X
-2/56 > x
So x val is greater than -2/56
