The "world" is a conceptual ideal of the way we live, would like to live and have lived. It is more to do with the lifestyle we enjoy than the Earth we occupy.

The end of the World could very well be some massive change in the way we have to live. The Global Climate issue is forcing us to review the way we live our lives and in a very real way, could the end of the world as we once knew it. Unless something can be done in the next 50 years (or even sooner) we could very well witness an "End-of-the-World" event.

More physical ends of the world would be Cosmic in nature - Massive impacts or the Sun going Nova for example.

I think life is good, and beautiful, and we have so little time to wonder of all the good things that surround us! Why would someone want to witness the end of the world ? The answer is that such a person has a black soul ( it does not matter if his unkind nature is hidden behind a religious appearance ). This type of persons really WANTS the end of the world to happen. They are deeply unhappy, they are deeply unadapted persons, and , for sure , they are deeply mentally ill.
Talking about the harm we make to our planet, to our society, I really hope there is enough good in the world to fight the evil.
We won't wittness the end of the world, nor our children, or our greatchildren... Take my world for it!

I have watched many worlds end, and I have little doubt that I will see many more expire in the future.

Some are larger than others, and some are older than others. But they pass just the same. The biggest variation is in the people. Some die along with their worlds, while many roll with the blow and keep on going. There are even those so senseless that they don't even notice.

Just remember: the ending of one thing is often the beginning of another. Peace.

well it depends. Do you mean the end of the "world" (in the societal construct idea), or the end of our planet?

IIRC, scientists have claimed that in so many million years or so our Sun is going to explode and engulf our planet, so there is that possibility. There's also Global warming that could take effect, potential nuke wars, LOADS of possibilities that our planet will be destroyed. I doubt any of those will happen in my life time though, but I am concerned for my Daughters' life time, as I am concerned the beginnings of the end could start to manifest in her time...

But people have claimed for thousands of years the world is ending. Makes it hard to believe these days.

In the societal sense...I don't think it ever could save for the semi-annihilation of Man and our technology. As society is always changing, always turning into something else depending upon the general masses needs and requirements of the time. We make our society around our surroundings and our lifestyles.

So IMO it would be very hard to kill that. The earth on the other hand I reckon would come sooner...

I think that the end of the world is going to be BILLIONS of years after SnowballEarth. Yes, I do believe in global warming and SnowballEarth WILL happen. In our lifetime? Maybe...but I don't think that will be the end of the world. It might be the end of mankind, but the world? Nah...it's survived an ice age or two before. =)

Seriously: I think the 'end of the world' is when Christ comes back for his people, his followers. He will take them to the place he has prepared for them and whomever remains will then experience the 'end of the world'.
I think it is just the end of the world as we know it because there will be a new 'world order'.

I won't be here to witness the rest because i believe i'll have gone (with Jesus) by then!

it is when Christ comes back to take all the Christians back with Him to stay with Him for a couple hundred years . while all the punishment are being poured out on earth, like the vial, trumpets and seals. some prophesies that will happen after Christ takes the Christians away will be:
Euphrates river will drie up
peace will be taken from earth
food will be extremely expensive
earth in dark, ruins
and a earthquake like no other will happen
one fourth and one third of the world will be killed.
etc...

but before this happens here are things that will show He is coming back

continuous earthquakes(more will happen than do now)
increase in tech
did you now Israel is the center of the world for a reason?
etc...

Christ came down in human form along time ago to die on a cross for us. he was tortured so that we may life with him forever!

accept Christ now but if you don't when He already came:
if we disappear; accept Christ into your heart immediately, and i feel bad you would have to live through that.

pray to God saying:
I am sorry for all the sins i have done and am admitting i am a sinner and i am not perfect
please come into my heart so that i can live a life with you and so i may witness to others.

in God name Amen

if you prayed this prayer: read the Bible every day
pray every day
worship Him
go to church
love Him.

if just accepted Christ, the angels in heaven r rejoicing and you are in the book of life so that you may have eternal life

john 3:16
for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whomever believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life.

I'll say the end of the world is when the human population is suddenly wiped off by 99%. My guess is that it'll happen within the next 100 to 200 years or so, so i'll be dead by then x)

The end of the world will take place when I say so and not a moment before. And, no, you will not be a witness to this event.

Merlyn.

Yes, in December of the year 2012 the current world as we know it will cease to exist. It will come from a Solar Flare as the Earth lines up perfectly with a sun spot directly in the center of the sun. This will turn into a solar flare that will wipe out all technology on this planet within 18 hours of erupting from the sun. At that point the Asteroid that NASA says is not going to hit us will pushed into a direct path from this solar flare and will wipe out most of all civilization with no warning set forth.
So party it up like it is the last five years of your life! Say the heck with credit, bills and so forth and go spend your money and party it up!
