It's truly awful. What a complete waste of £400,000!
It bears no symbolism of London or the Olympics. In fact it reminds me of a sort of Swastika design, it's terrible.
Most logos represent the host city and it's country's culture (The Opera house and Boomerang for Sydney, Chinese symbols for Beijing, laurel wreath for Athens)
In what way does that abomination represent London, or any of its landmarks?
I know the Olympic committee wanted a design that might encourage the youth in the UK to take up more sports, but how did they think this design would fit the bill?? Its nothing more than random shapes, collected together in a messy confusing fashion.
Let's hope Lord Coe swallows his pride and decides to change it.

Clearly the new London Olympic Logo is unpopular, but no doubt the Olympic Committee will re-buff my comments to justify the ridiculous waste of money getting it designed in the first place etc. Why didn't anyone think about setting up a competition for logo entries, which could be short-listed down to approx 3 logos, in which the final winner is chosen via a National UK phone vote (at say 25p per call) and all the proceeds raised going into the Olympic budget? This is a practical way of using democracy & business together to reduce harsh criticism, getting people interested and of course raising money for a worthwhile Olympic cause. Quite why they need to employ consultants is beyond my comprehension! I appreciate that such an idea may be too radical or dynamic for their overpaid UN-dynamic bureaucrats to comment on, but nonetheless, I would be interested to hear from them. My concluding thoughts... "What a wasted opportunity!”

I've seen it on TV, it's just a load of flashy crap. It seems obvious to me that Coe and Co are more interested in themselves and what they can get out of if than anything remotely associated with the Olympic ideal.
Where for example are the promised sports facilities in London which Coe and Co were wittering on about several months ago?
Gymnasiums are closing down all over the UK for lack of funding, which was promised but so far not seen.
I know, let's spend half a million on a flashy thingy!
Bad thinking.
What happened to the Lion logo? It at least looked British. I thought the idea was to milk the Olympics for all they are worth and promote Britain, UK inc etc.
Bad is the least worst word I can think of.
Edit: I bet the Chinese, who are holding the Olympics 2008 are just laughing up their silk sleeves right now.

its a bloody shambles! - in the words of Sir Alan Sugar!
It looks like a laod of crap to me. Colours are to bright. They have completely wrecked the whole idea of globally recognised logo. It bears no relationship to london or the olympics. It looks like a logo on a pair of chav style trainers.
Porbably some thick brained art graduate twerp came up with this.

Hi!
It's ABSOLUTE sh*te!
Instead of spending all our hard earned taxes they should have gone round the schools and colleges and got some of the students to make suggestions. What a fantastic opportunity that would have given some young people.
Then say the best ten could have gone to the public vote.
A bit like 'Logo Idol' !
However, although the majority of the country seems to agree with me, I fear it's gonna be with us now for the duration!

This "logo" needs to "go-go"!
It would be considered ugly, even if it had been free, but for that much money? The need to pull this stupid thing off and replace it.
Did you hear that even the TV promo that goes with it has actually caused seisures in people who watch it?

What I see in the logo is a dude in the left and a girl on the right, She looks like she is bending her knees and sucking on the dot.

I think they should dump the present logo and adopt the one voted for on the BBC News website. It is brilliant, and a lot cheaper.
