Id like to get about 350-400 horse out of a stock 454 from a dually pickup.. they have about 245 or something stock. Id rather not mess with the bottom end.. its all really nice, ive dropped the pan and all that junk. Trying to do this without the bottle. lol

I am doing the same project that you are, just getting started. I have asked some questions just like you and got some pretty good answers, and some wise cracks too. Hope this helps you. You could just throw something together or you could plan your project and it will come out really well. I have been reading and found a book that gives you 10 engine build-ups in all different horse powers and price ranges. They are proven combination. The parts they tell you to use are specific. Just pick which combination you like best. If you want to use this approach go to www.cartechbooks.com and look up the book you need. Hope this helps you and good luck with your truck. It will be about 25 bucks, but I think it is worth it.

just do the basics cam intake rockers pushrods lifters intake carb (if carburated) headers exuast and such. It dont sound like they will do much but if you get a good combo you will feel a huge diffrence. Depending on how much money you can go further And get some good performance heads on there..

Headers and tune the Carbs if it not Fuel Injected. Change the cam. That about as cheap as it will get.
