hopefully, they don't follow the lead of the heterosexual community. hyphenated names are confusing, especially when the person can't remember which name to use. it can become dangerous in the health care setting when records are filed under the first last name and not the second.

Any number of things, just like heterosexual couples.
Have one partner take the other's last name;
Hyphenate the two together;
Both keep their original name;
Make up or take a new last name together.
I've seen couples keep their original last names most often.

My wife and I have different last names. I wanted to keep mine as long as my kids were in school, but it's my married name so I really didn't want her to take mine. We may change our minds after the kids go off to college.

Some couples take each persons surname hypenated eg.
Smith-Jones.
In our case my wife (gay marriage is legal in SA) took my surname since we both agreed it was the nicer surname.
Its just a matter of choice, there are no set rules.

I dont see why homosexuals would get married if they weren't attracted to each other (yes, i am distorting your question by making the true assumption that gay marriage is an oxymoron)
However, the way things are going, there probably will be some mockery of normal marriage, where i suppose they will just decide on whose last names will be kept

the woman taking on the males last name is strictly a cultural thing. some countries and cultures women don't do that. homosexuality has taken on a different culture anyway, and what they choose to do with their last names will be apart of that culture.
it's all unclean!!!
