What are we STILL doing in Iraq? Innocent people are dieing over this war! What are we getting out of it? About a week and a half ago a cousin on my dad's side of the family died from being shot in the head going to work. He and his wife had two kids and one on the way. A lot of people are going through deaths... What if that same war was happening in the US?
Having shooters walking around your neiborhood... and snipers hiding in bushes ready to shoot any second...
It's really sad what is happening and I hope it finishes soon. What do you think? I would love some feedback on what you think about this war going on in Iraq. Thanks :)

I don't care about the war in Iraq, never really did honestly., Putins gonna Nuke us if Bush makes a wrong move with the satellites. I'm more worried about countries than caould kill US in a heartbeat. Hussein was a crazy nut, and he's dead. I love Bush for that. He didn't give up. North Korea is a nut anda half. And Putin is peeved. We can't assisnate them all, so we can just try to be cordial.
They should pull out of Iraq though and put their concentration elsewhere. Like where the real dangers are. Iraq is a mess anyways, always has been.

Anal rape of innocent prisoners is a great way to create a butt load of terrorists.

That's what we are doing--creating the world's most violent and extreme terrorists. There were almost no incidents of international terrorists using Iraq as a staging ground prior to our invasion. We replaced a secular government with an ineffective theocratic one almost as impotent as the taliban of Afghanistan, which while we were distracted is regaining power.

What are we getting out of this war? "War is a racket." Major General Smedley Butler wrote this piece ages ago, and it remains just as true today as it was when he penned it. The lives of our boys come dirt cheap, and corporate profits are well worth the few thousand we've squandered on this pointless conflict, in the eyes of those chickenhawks who sent them off to die. Aegis Defense Systems has made billion in this war. SAIC made something like $20 billion last year. Since the invasion began we have transferred $500 billion from the public treasury to the private sector. This war has been a boon for the economy--at least so far as wealthy investors are concerned. Poverty has increased, here in the US. Real earning power has declined. Violent crime is on the rise. But who cares? The stock market has enjoyed enormous success. If you are an investor, this war has been a bonanza, as many wars have been.

Five hundred billion divided by 3400. That's what a soldier's life is worth--just under $150,000. We will most certainly lose another thousand boys before this war is over, but we will have also squandered over a trillion, so the authors of this conflict will be able to laugh themselves silly all the way to the bank.

Addendum: A note to the gentleman who responded below. If you place a pair of car headlights on a rope and swing them up into the lane in front of your house some dark night, and another motorist swerves into a stone wall and dies in order to avoid the "oncoming car," then you will have been just as guilty of deception as was the president who authored this war on a pack of lies.

Our nation bought Vietnam based on the Gulf of Tonkin lie. More than half of the US citizens continue to swallow Cheney's repeated lie concerning a connection between Saddam and Al Queda (there never was one).

We had our civil war already, and it was hardly based on religious grounds. While it's a shame that innocent civilians are dying, as well as American and Iraqi troops, the blame is fully on the terrorists and insurgents who are too cowardly to try and peacefully discuss their differences and form an inclusive government. It all boils down to power and the factions over there are divided on religious beliefs. Only when law is supreme, and religion is taken completely out of government will the Iraqi people see peace.

You are blaming The president of the US for your dads cousin getting shot on the way to work?
Couldnt we all come up with something irational like that to blame on virtually anyone in America?
If I turn my porch light on, and someone is driving by and gets blinded for just a second from the light, and they wreck into a telephone pole, and the pole falls on a kitten...did I kill the kitten?
Come on..you gotta be smarter than to let the media shape your every opinion.
Sometimes things happen. It is a tragic thing that has happened to your family, but do we really blame the president for it?
What if the police officer in charge of patroling the area that night got sick and had to run home for a minute..wouldnt that be more reasonable than saying President Bush is to blame?

My grandmother died from poor healthcare back in the 80's..was it Reagans fault?...should I have been carrying hard feelings towards the president for the last 25 years?...or maybe she died because it was her time, and county healthcare officials could have done a better job.

I hope you are able to get the point from this post. Its easy to start looking for this kind of post to be wrong, but maybe you are smart enough to see I may just be right.
Best wishes to your family.

Only a few Americans like you have realized the horror of war. Instead of posting questions and protesting for two hours in the street, why don't you do something to bring a change? You Americans boast that yours is the biggest democratic nation in the world. Is that just a statement?

"Understanding how the World works.."- has never been G.W.'s strong point. He's always been under the unfortunate delusion that OUR way is the best way- & that the World would be "better off" if EVERYONE were like Us. Soo...-He continues to cluelessly try to force our "round" democracy- into Islam's "square" culture in Iraq- not realising that it's NOT going to work. Since a LOT of people still are too embarrassed to admit that they made a mistake by voting for the guy TWICE- we're going to be STUCK in this war until he finally leaves Office- in 2009. THAT'S what's REALLY "sad"... :(

Well welcome to current events. This is an on-going battle, if you will, about the damage that Bush is doing to not only us, but to innocent citizens of the middle east. That's why people are constantly bickering back and forth about how bad he sucks and his lack of consideration for those who are losing lives due to his stupidity. Not much we can do, just pray that the time will go by fast so that he can get the hell out of office. Listen to your presidential nominees who want to end this ridiculous war, that will have a huge impact on the election. I'm sorry for loss, the only thing we can do is thank the idiots that voted this moron into office not ONCE, but TWICE!!!
Thanks a lot, ASSHOLES!!

Unfortunately, Bush doesn't care about the soldiers being wounded and killed in Iraq, so will you Americans learn the lesson and vote for a peaceful president the next time??

I think we dug ourselves too deep to get out quickly and we have to stay in it until Iraq can operate as a functioning democratic nation without our help.
