Everyone has a different answer to this question. This is one of the most important questions that each one of us has to answer. The unexamined life is not worth living... so says Socarates. For me, there is no pre-exisiting meaning to life which I have to search for. I believe we have to invent our own meaning of life... so long as it makes you happy... do it :)

You have to ask yourself if the answer is to be in terms of feelings or in terms of truth.

If you decide that getting a happy feeling of meaning/purpose/worth is what you want, then self deception is the key.
