Only about 1/4 of the Bhagdad neighborhoods that were supposed to be made safe by our present surge of military personnel have actually been "contained". What do we do now?

Isn't it time for some diplomacy???

The last thing this world needs is a conservative saying, "More war!"

I wonder what it was that was 'supposed' to work? Given that there are a dozen or more different factions involved, all of them armed, all of them fighting each other and the US forces at the same time, how does one get a real handle on that kind of situation? Street crime alone ties up entire police departments, Iraq being no exception to that. What can the military do except drive around aimlessly hoping to luck into a situation where they get the drop on the 'bad guys'? As a rule, it's the other way around....our people just drive into an ambush and get blown into spit and air. Maybe more troops arrive, but by then the 'bad guys' are back home watching Oprah! More troops just mean more targets. No matter how many 'boots on the ground' there are, there will always be more 'sandles on the soil'. Let's be real...this is their turf and enough of those people don't want us there to tie us down forever. Think about it. The Irish have been fighting the brits for 400 years...now and again they have a 'treaty', but it never lasts. Why is Iraq different?

Do not believe what the news reports!! You know yourself that the news just plays on the negative junk ,and stirs the crap ,and fans the flames of trouble!! If they did not do these things a lot of people would be without jobs and a lot of networks off the air!! What we do now is exactly what we have been doing!! Unfortunately I feel we will be doing this for a long time to come, but we have to succeed or else those barbarians will take over and if that were to happen..........watch out world for the anti Christ will have arrived!! Not even your best liberal diplomat will be able to reason with this one!!!!

I'm not surprised.
There actually is some good and humanitarian projects and accomplishments occurring in Iraq. Did your news source report these along with their usual diatribe about their biased conclusions and opinions?
As far as diplomacy, you'd have to ask Jimmy Carter how well that policy worked for him when dealing with these radicals - while the Iranians held American hostages for over a year.

Yup. What all and sundry else pronounced. however the stable information is presented, basically no longer written approximately plenty. in my opinion i stumble on a action picture proper to the wonders of nature cheers me up. or basically a walk interior the mild. For the worldwide is stuffed with loopy concern and loopy people. And on an identical time because it incredibly is not quite stable to neglect approximately such issues completely, neither is it healthful to stay on them each and all of the time. i think of existence is approximately stability. approximately appreciating the stable issues in our existence, on an identical time as awareness others won't be as fortunate. helping others in some small way, on an identical time as no longer ignoring the desires of our families, friends and maximum heavily ourselves. existence IMO, is what we make it. If we worry to step out of our front doorways, anticipate all and sundry is plotting against us, nicely, existence would be hell. If we see that the worldwide we live in is often plenty extra effectual whilst in comparison with even a hundred years in the past, renowned the flaws in our lives that we delight in and supply us excitement, existence could be heavenly. .

We're using lots of diplomacy. With the Iraqi government. Trying to work diplomatically with terrorists wouldn't work out too well.

I agree with the conservatives on the war.

We should not retreat and fail.

We should stay and fail and lose more American lives (sarcasm)

It is STILL too early kids!

patience! we will know for sure by September, and even then it will still be early, a good time line is actually about 6 months, hell, even in a job they try you out for 3 to 6 months right?

same thing here, the surge has just been completed, last group of troops is not even in place yet (word is they will be in place by weeks end) so ..patience, lets see if it works, and let see the results in September, THEN we can say for sure...!

problem today is media is "jumping the gun" on this, plus they have no clue on military matters either!

it has been past time for diplomacy but first you must have a leader that admits he does not have a clue on this situtation and allow those much smarter to take control he may as wll already have said such a thing with the appointment of a war czar talk about incompetence

I don't care if you are Dem. or Rep., America just does not get it! Plain and simple. Can't you see what we're trying to control over there? THAT is the problem! We can't....learn a little history and then you'll feel really dumb.

All this talk about the war and questions about what to do... Its clear to the american people, and the world , what you should do!!! The sad part is... your not doing it. The second amendment is for this situation.

When peacful protest is made impossible,,, violent revolution becomes inevitable!
