I assume you know the number and just lost the card? You can get a copy of your credit report for free from www.annualcreditreport.com by answering some questions. Then, print out the report, and it will have your social security number on it. I presume they'll accept that as proof. If not, did your employer ask for a social security number when you were employed? They may have made a copy. Or, perhaps it's on your driver's license? Some states still do that, and others used to, in case you still have your old license. Anyways, why do they require it? That seems weird to me!

If you have old paycheck stubs, there's a good chance they will have your SS# on them as your employee ID. If you have a student ID, there's a decent chance that has it as well. You might also check around for old income tax forms; they will have your SS# for sure. If you haven't found something by tomorrow morning, call the Social Security office in your area to find out what you need to do.

I honestly can't say that I recall having to produce my SSN for a marriage license. Are you sure that's required, or do you simply have to have two valid forms of ID? Would a passport or other ID work?

I don't think you can since your social security number is ultra private, maybe on a work form like a 1040? Other than that, call the social security office and get a replacement card...congratulations on your marriage!

Don't know about other places, but in Calif. If you go to the SS office, they will give you a sheet of paper that legally has to be accepted as a valid SS I.D. Then you will get an actual replacement card about 2 weeks later.

Try a pay stub. Your going to have to go to your local office and request a new card. Take your ID and proof of residency, and birth certificate if you have it. You may not get it by tomorrow, but its a start.
