yeah, any dvd drive for a computer still runs cdroms. no worries.

A DVD Drive will read CD's but not the other way around. They are made in a totally different manner and work a little different. Some DVD's have two layers that require a special drive with two lasers. This can hold 2x the info. There's also blu-ray, which uses a blue laser. Blue, has a shorter wavelength in light than red, so it can have smaller grooves in the disc, thus holding more. (Sry for rambling on...)

Hey your question is wrong. You Know the meaning of a CD-ROM? A cd-rom is a device used to put cds. You should ask will it run VCD's. Yes, of course it will.
