I think many views on Muslims have been distorted by what the tv and internet tells people.

Muslims have become so stereotyped with their names so misused that most Americans only see one picture of them. A picture of a sadistic group of terrorists and people that hate democracy.

So, having said my opinion, what do you think?

Sporadic: It's nice to know that you know that those where turbans are usually Sikhs. Thank you for NOT ANSWERING THE QUESTION.

Maatkarah: The Christians (to precise as Thomson would say: the Catholics)back then didn't know much actually. If you remember, the Vatican took 359 years to vindicate Galileo. Why? They said they didn't know at the time and it was to protect their religion.

If you lived during that time I'm sure you would have thought the Earth was flat not round.

The guy in the turban at the airport is dangerous because if the poor guy makes just one wrong move or the mistake of speaking to a friend,(in person or on the phone) in anything that sound vaguely Arabic, or if he just says the wrong thing ( think of the old, old joke about the fella loudly greeting a friend at the airport or on a plane with "Hi! Jack!!") he could be mobbed.
There is of course the very small chance that he really could be a terrorist but then so could the tall good looking blond Guy with the back pack or the young woman with the overnight bag. Ya just never know.
Yes, the views on Muslims have been terribly distorted by everyone. Unfortunately, it seems to be a rather widespread reaction to generalize from the few 'bad apples' and use them and any half truths available to demonize them. Make them less than human so that it become okay to not only hate them but kill them. That is what was done purposely during WWII with the Japanese and the Germans.
Of course part of the problem with the "Arabs" or Muslims is that there are many here in America who see them as holding us hostage with oil and resent it.
Sadly, I must report that a depressingly large number of my friends and neighbors tend to refer to any dusky skinned foreigner as a (please pardon the term!!) 'rag head' and they are dead sure that they are right to hate them because they are our 'enemies' and are 'out to kill us.'

99% of people in America with turbans are Sikh, and the answer to your question is NO, not at all. Im a turbaned Sikh and have been "randomly selected" many times, my whole family has on the belief that we are dangerous. What about the serial killers, the shoe bomber, all the other bombers that werent brown or turbaned? Media is wrong for what they are doing. Also, a study was done by a white man. He took a gun to various airports, and made it through the detectors of many... while Muslims and Sikhs were being checked... kind of ironic

I fear Christians far more than Muslims, and although I have a vastly different faith I find more truth in the Koran than the Bible. It is the fanatics that give any religion a bad reputation, just look at Christianity in the middle ages accusing and killing people for witchcraft....an act of cowardice done out of fear from the unknown. Think how people would fear clergy from the church back then and how that compares to radical Muslims now.
A wise man once said "religion is the opiate of the masses".

I think that most non-Islamic countries are very leery of people of Arabic decent, whether they wear a turbin or not.

If 9-11 were carried out by the Japanese (And assuming a few radical Japanese people built a strong reputation of terrorism), we would be stereotyping all Japanese. The same can be said if 9-11 were carried out by the Chinese, the French, the Russians, Americans (on foreign soil)...

One thing that really hurt the Islamic people is that fact that a few of them were actually filmed dancing in the streets, here in America, and abroad. This just fueled the misconception that all Arabs are evil.

The fact is that most people in the world are good, caring, law-abiding people who prefer peace instead of violence. we cannot allow the few radical terrorists to convince us that they are practicing true Islam. In most cases, these terrorists were young, poor boys who were "rescued" from poverty and taken to special "schools" were they were taught hatred in the name of religion and they truly do not know any better. Please do not blame the good, laving, caring, Arabic people or people who practice the Islamic faith for the actions of a few misled people.

O.k., the other guy didn't really answer your question, so, yes, i think they do get stereotyped alot, especially since 911. I personally don't trust anyone anymore than anyone else, but, no i don't just single them out, that's not fair. Not evryone with a turban or dark skin is a terrorist.

I would say the ones without a turban are more likely to be dangerous ones. If they are a terrorist, they aren't going to attract attention to them by wearing a turban.

I think overall they are labeled as you said. and it isnt true that all of them are bad. there are alot of good people who also happen to be muslim. i do not agree with muslim americans being discriminated against..however i do understand that people will feel uncomfortable in the airport, most of this is caused by the media. but i cannot condemn people for being paranoid, it is a natural reaction. as long as this paranoia doesnt turn into hate and violence.

Are all Muslims dangerous?

Nope, only the ones with really hot unmarried sisters.

The most dangerous people at the airport are the frickin baggage handlers, everyone knows that.

I think RADICAL Muslims are dangerous. And to be completely honest, I am scared when I see a middle eastern person getting on the same plane or bus as me. I know it sounds horrible, I'm really not trying to be racist... but I can't help being paranoid about it.
