Does anyone know how to view this without actaully having to buy word 2007?
Or can I forward the document to someone and you can email it back to me in a different format??

If it's rich text, you can open with word pad.

You can download Word viewer for free from microsoft. You can open the document in rich text, you can use "open office" or "google docs" for free or star office for dirt cheap. And yes, you can forward it and have it emailed back to you too. I'd try google docs or the word viewer.

Hi Elizabeth,

Here's a couple of links for you:
Here's a Word 2007 Compatibility Pak: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=941B3470-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en

Here's a Word 2003 Viewer:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=95E24C87-8732-48D5-8689-AB826E7B8FDF&displaylang=en

According to Microsoft if you use the two together you can view Word 2007 documents. You won't be able to edit them though. The converter pack will let you open, edit, and save Word 2007 documents using Word 2003. Make sure you follow all of the instructions.

Ignore John K's answer, he doesn't know what he's talking about! ;) John K - fyi, .docx is the filetype used by MS Word 2007 for word document files.

Open it using WordPad....you can find it under accesories list in your program files. Or you can use "open with" and look for WordPad.
