go to the start button go to RUN, and type in- msconfig
that will let u choose what to use and not to use on start up and while your comp is running, remember you can always reset them...
worth a shot it helps my comp. because their are so many things you dont really need to be running, see whats running you dont need and choose stop.
good luck

Dear,
There are some causes which make the startup delay. Too many programs loading during start up, Irregular programs entry in the registry, huge temporary files .....etc etc...
Now if you want to clean it up, do the following actions:
1. Go to start and select run program
2. Write msconfig and press ok
3.select the start up tab
4. now try to uncheck most of the start up items except windows system commands.
5. now restart the computer.
after doing this, go to the program-accessories-system tools-disc clean up. here try to clean all un necessary items and unused programs.
Finally, from the system tools, run disc defragmenter.
After all these things, I am sure your computer will be faster enough as you expect from it.
For additional support, you can down load ccleaner from www.ccleaner.com
run these program and clean your system thoroughly.
good luck

Uninstall more than one anti virus, you only are supposed to have 1. Go into add/remove and uninstall all the "usual suspects", red flag software like AOell, limewire, banzai buddy, webshots, hotbar, bearshare, incredimail, etc. Then reboot. Then go into msconfig/startup an google everything, it will tell you if its needed, optional or bad. Uncheck them, click apply and reboot. NOW run antivirus in safe mode. Then antispyware.
You should speed up with each reboot.

Hi! Try next -> C:->Documents and Settings->[Administrator, All Users, "your name at installation"]->Start Menu->Programs. Delete whatever U want from all above. Luck! P.S. A hint. If U don't got the gutts don't use it. Try Registry or call a friend.
P.S. 1. Reinstall the OS, but only if U saved U'r data on other partition or CD/DVD's.

computers slow down when you've got too much memory stored. you might want to delete some programs or games to free up some space.

One way to eliminate slow running at start up is to eliminate automatic start-up programs. Instead of having them start automatically, have them start manually. A program like this that will make your computer run significantly slower is limewire(or any other file-sharing program).

Use two drives i.e software drive and Data drive and keep
the operating system always updated.
-Run scan disk once aweek
-Defrag hard drive once a month.
-Use c-cleaner once a month and get rid of unused files and
fragments.
-Use any anti virus system.
OR
-Forget WIN XP and install LINUX.
