Literally speaking... yes, the world is on the verge of ending! Practically... the complete development the world has seen in the last hundred years would come to a naught. With the coming world war three in 2012, a fight to the finish between Christianity and Islamic Dharma... the world shall witness annihilation of the scientific developments of the last about hundred years.
Can we imagine a world without Internet, telephones, TV sets, mobiles etc? Practically no, but it shall call become a possibility after the world war three ends. The fiercest world war ever fought... a full-scale nuclear war... it will be a war to do and die! Logistics will be the last word in this war. Breaking down of relationships between human beings, communities, state, countries and heads of various countries would come into fore.
Such would be the impact of the war that world witnesses massive melting of icecaps resulting in 10 to 12 feet rise in sea waters, waves as high as 1000 feet becoming a common feature, most areas of Australia and UK getting submerged, acidic rains world over, death of 1200 million people and what not!
Albert Einstein rightly predicted that the fourth world war would be fought with sticks and stones. Every bad happening has its plus points also. World war three would result in the coming of Bhagwan Kalki... the Avatar of the era (God manifesting human form) who shall guide the humanity out of chaos. 2014 onwards the world shall witness the start of golden era! No. The same stuff has been going on for as long as the world has been spinning. The only difference is that in this day and age we hear about every little thing and even all the millions of terrible things that could happen, over and over and over.

No -- just reforming, re-configuring. Dissolution is essentially a reformation of things. But not all things are dissolved; some forms and functions are re-tooled, re-appointed. An ending before is but the flip side of a beginning again.

It's been ending for millions of years, and it will eventually. I don't think it will end for a lot longer, humans will die out before the Earth ends.
But I can't predict the future, so you never know, it could happen tomorrow.

Not sure, perhaps not. One thing's for sure: humanity will go away earlier than our precious planet. And all the damage we are making to the planet will kill mankind because nature tend to reach and equilibrium by itself. Perhaps we will survive but will have to adapt to new ecological conditions and will no longer be the dominant species of the planet

The sooner the better! I know that God won't let this happen until enough people are ready. His timing is always perfect. Just live every day as if it were your last. Even after the first rapture, there will be a 7 year tribulation period to follow, where those who missed the first chance have 7 more years to turn to God.
