I can drop several names of people who abused their power. It would take me hours upon hours to make such a huge laundry list.

I would suggest going to Barnes and Noble and picking up a copy of Miranda Twiss' book "The Most Evil Men and Women in History." It's a great book and it gives good examples of some of history's baddies. However, it is very limited since the number of villians far exceeds what Twiss can write about (but don't go about looking for this at Borders; this book is partially published by B&N itself).

I even heard a podcast from a guy who compared Alexander the Great to Adolf Hitler, saying that the two of them killed millions of people. However, I beg to differ. Alexander never killed people on such a massive scale as Hitler did. Yes, Alex was arrogant and he did kill innocent people, however, he did not conduct a genocidal Holocaust to rid the world of minorities. So I guess Alexander the Great might be on your list but that's your decision.

Check Wikipedia, too. They will also have lots of info. on history's power abusers. Look through the history of Ancient Rome. There were a lot of insane Roman emperors who thought they were gods (yes, that is true....the law was that whoever was Caesar was considered divine, a law that did not suit well with the Christians).

Do you people really like history?! I absolutely hate it. The only thing I like about history is our teacher because he's really funny but we're getting a new teacher soon anyway. I just find it insanely boring. And yes, I prefer maths to history. All my friends are doing history for their exams, I seem to be the only one who isn't. I know some people might find it interesting, but I'm definitely not one of those people :)
