2.(b² - b/2 - 7/2) = 14
b² - b/2 - 7/2 = 7
(b² - b/2 + 1/16) - 56/16 = 112/16 + 1/16
(b - 1/4)² = 169/16
b - 1/4 = ± 13/4
b = 1/4 ± 13/4
b = 14/4 , - 12/4
b = 7/2 , b = - 3

2b^2-b-7=14
2b^2-b+1/8 -7-1/8=14
(b√2-√2 /4)^2-7 1/8=14
(b√2-√2 /4)^2=21⅛
b√2-√2 /4=±√21.125
b-4=±(√2 /2)√21.125
b-4=±(1/2) √42.25
b-4=±(1/2)6.5=3.25
b=4±3.25
b=0.75
b=7.25

bring all to one side
2b^2 - b - 21 = 0
(2b -7)(b + 3) = 0
2b - 7 = 0 , b + 3 = 0
b = 3.5 , b = -3

2b^2-b=21
b^2-(1/2)b=10.5
b^2-(1/2)b+(1/4)^2=10.5+(1/4)^2
(b-1/4)(b-1/4)=10.5625
b=10.8125
