I'm a bookworm and for me to pick out the best piece of inspiring literature would be incredibly hard since there are so many good books out there.

As much as I want to pick The Bible, I won't because I feel that it is not mere"literature" but the standard that we should all live by.

I'm going to come out and say "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee because it teaches us about the realities of racism and how to stand up for what is right even though it may not be popular (and yes, that is Biblical).

The film version of the book is very moving, especially the courtroom scenes where Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck...a fine actor if there was one) gives his defense of an innocent black man accused of rape.

My advice is to read this book first, then see the movie. When watching the film, look for a young Robert Duvall in a cameo as Boo Radley.

I don't know about inspiring but my favorite work of literature is LOST HORIZON by James Hilton. I read it yearly. It's a small volume but because it was written a long time ago, you may find the language a bit formal, which slows down the reading process.

But it's a great story...
