Lets say its Deirks Bently , I would Make my old acquaintance introduce me to him !
Then I would have to be really cheesy and get a picture with him ! It would be a once in a lifetime kind of thing!

Walk up to the old acquaintance and say hello. Introduce yourself to the celebrity just as if they were plain folk! When she says who she is you can tell her you enjoy her work and are happy to meet her. If the conversation starts rolling, stick around. If not, walk back to your friends.

walk up to the old acquaintence and say "I'm sorry, your so and so arent you...?" and then they reply with "why yes I am so and so.." then small talk with them for a few moments before turning to the celebrity, and saying "im sorry to be so rude.. I'm blaaaaaaaah... and you are?"... playing off the fact you know who they are, not to seem like some freaky fanatic or anything...
and where it goes from there.. who knows!
