I have a 15 foot fiberglass boat, with the floor and supports removed because of rot (the fiberglass stringers running the length of the boat are there), but I didnt remove it so I dont know if there was foam, what kind, and what the supports were made of. Can somebody give me the steps for this project? thanks

you need to take the boat less the motor to a fiberglass repair company and talk to the repairman --- ask if you can do some of the work and then return the boat to him for f-glass get him to explain what you do and why ---- these guys love to talk and will tell you what you want to know if you will do this in a nice manner and you can learn and as well save some $$'s ----the left side of the boat is called "port and the right is the "starboard" --- the stringers are "flooring ribs"" IF IF you don't wanna talk to the f-glass man ----- use cedar wood for ribs and marine plywood for the flooring then cover the plywood with out-door grassy carpet and use dry-wall screws to secure the flooring to the ribs and glue the grass ( ask lowe's for the correct glue for a marine application ... more Q's can be answered if youy e-mail me.... walter chaos

essentially too complex for this Q &A forum... Varies somewhat with the boat, but its basicly rip out the floor, rip out the old stringers (keeping them as intact as possible) Make new stringers using the old as patterns. cut the new floor panels and install. Details of which materials to use... glues. sealants... depend on the boat.
