I was under the impression that they did. However, my boss tells me that they will not pay for jury duty. Can anyone help? What are my choices? If I skip jury duty, I get arrested. If I go, I lose atleast one day of pay (possibly much more). Please post some websites with some info on this if you have any.

Hypothetically, if I were to get chosen and it was a long trial, like a month or longer, no one is responsible for paying me? That makes no sense to me.

It's illegal for your boss to refuse to pay you. He can be jailed for what he's trying to do. There should have been a page with more details in the jury duty notice. If there wasn't, there should be a phone number you can call for details.
Your boss is trying to cheat you. Even hourly employees are entitles to pay when serving jury duty. Your boss is hoping you'll be too timid to call him our for trying to cheat you.

No, jury duty is a civic obligation. Some large employers like the government, public utilities, a few very large corporations, will pay for jury duty. Our company does not and that has always resulted in my co-workers getting excused when called for anything more than a very short trial like a DUI case.

NO THEY DO NOT. You get paid for jury duty by the state (or the feds if a federal trial). Your only option is to go to jury duty. Ask your boss if you can work a few extra hours on other days. Your boss does NOT have to pay you. The only obligation your employer has is to let you off for jury duty.

No, they are not required to pay. The court will pay you a daily allowance to make up for lost wages; though it won't cover the amount you actually lose.
What your employer can't do is fire you for being on jury duty.

.Allot of courts will pay you a set sum for every day they call you to report, while assigned to jury duty
Check it out, with the clerk of the Court as to what they do.
Also on the Day you report, the Judge will as for reasons someone may wish to be excused! You may explain financial hardship.

Employers do NOT have to pay you for work you are not doing. If you have jury duty you aren't doing your work.
You won't get arrested for skipping jury duty, just tell them on the card/paper that you can't do it. (they'll put you on the list again.)

no they are not obligated to but they are obligated to let you go and serve your jury duty. There are some companies that will pay you though.
