Well you get the full range of behaviour on the Internet. Post a question on Answers and you can get abuse and high supportive answers.
Sure there are a lot of antisocial behaviour, but it exists everywhere. Labelling people on the Internet as anything is just crazy talk.
For example, women are more likely to use the Internet for social interaction than men and there is a growing trend in social behaviour on the Internet.
The Internet intertwines with our general lives. So that we use the Internet to plan our social activities, research before going shopping, look at porn before experimenting in our sex lives.
The Internet gives us more social freedom. So we can heap abuse on someone who doesn't know who we are and has no way of getting back at us. We can help someone, without having them enter our lives. We can meet people from all countries and walks of life and not worry about the direct consequences.
It is like people posting happy slappy videos compared with the Aussie guy giving away free hugs.

I think that some people are more afraid of interaction on the internet because we are warned so much now about all the stuff that can happen. I am a social person in life but I am funny about what I do on the internet so that could be some of it

No, I think it's because there is no face to face contact.
Kind of like riding in a car, people tend to be more agressive than they would normally be.
You don't have to worry about getting punched in the face. Of course if you get out of the car you could be punched!
